rachels target listeners

Expert FM:

Description or Station and Target Listener-
The target Listener would be aged around 45+.The station will be quite informative with good news and weather updates, it will also have a good source of information for the area so the older age that does not get out as much will know what is changing or happening around them. There will be a decent amount of music on the radio station to make the listeners feel comforted, and most of the music will be from around 60’s-80’s so they know the music and can relate to it from there younger life, which would also be making them feel better about themselves.  The station will have clear speakers on the radio so older people that may not have good hearing can still hear them and enjoy the good company of the radio station.

XXFM:

Description of station and Target Listener-
The target listeners would be aged 13+. The station is going to include a lot of banter to hold more interest for the audience, talking about gossip and celebrities etc.  They would not base a lot on news and weather because this would not engage well with there needs. There will lots of music breaks within the radio show to keep the audience interested and in a way on suspense on what songs are going to come up next. There will also be a lot of linking done within the show and completion so they feel as though they can interact and take part because this relates with the more kinesthetic people that there is today, therefore bringing in a bigger audience. The Presenters would have to be very fun and lively because the audience would need to be kept interested as at a young age the attention span would be small.

Ideas for information (news, travel)

News information for the CHR listeners could involve:

·      Celebrity gossip, the majority of the news would involve a lot of gossip as its appealing to a younger audience than Gold, however a brief outline of the latest news will be broadcasted to aware listeners of what’s happening around the world, and if there’s anything vital they need to know.
·      The latest news (via the BBC)
·      Latest news on sport (relating more so to male listeners)

Anything that’s taken the publics eye, this will have to be decided nearer the time, so we can offer up to date news that’s still being talked about.

This will be presented with happy presenters to make the news sound more appealing to listen too.

Travel information could for the CHR could involve:

·      Latest road troubles such as traffic (possibly due to weather conditions?)
·      Roads closed off, and how to divert traffic
·      Any accidents, warning public to go different routes
·      Weather conditions and if it’s suitable to be driving.

Yet again, this will only be decided on what we actually talk about nearer the time, to give a more accurate broadcast.

All this information will be broadcasted in a prompt manner, and if the topic of certain news is viable to humour then it will be used, when nesscerssay to help engage audience more.

For our Gold radio the news will be focused more on serious stories, as this will relate better with out target audience, however there will be a slight mention of any celebrity gossip if needed.

More mature presenters will present this, yet again this will relate more with our readers.
The traffic will be presented near enough the same because this is vital information that all members of the public would need to know, especially drivers on the roads at the time.
